"Navigating Life's Storms: A Journey of Self-Discovery and Renewed Focus"
This year began with a false start, and as the chaos of life unfolded during the Christmas and New Year period, I found myself overwhelmed. Juggling the responsibilities of painting my rental property in Victoria, attending the bustling family Christmas, and coping with my daughter's illness and my own mental health struggles left me feeling drained and exhausted.
The struggle persisted as the back-to-school season approached, compounded by a significant medical scare that had me fearing the loss of yet another cherished person in my life. Amidst these challenges, my birthday arrived on Friday, but I struggled to find the motivation and control to celebrate.
The following day marked the annual memorial speed shear for my late husband, a day filled with both emotional weight and the logistical demands of months of planning. The obligatory family catch-up only added to the whirlwind of events. I felt like I had been missing in action from my aspirations and goals at Clarity Imagined.
Yet, as I sit here this morning, a sense of freshness and lightness surrounds me. In the midst of life's chaos, I've come to realize the importance of acknowledging the personal achievements that often go unnoticed.
I now find myself in a brand new office space on Macquarie Street, sharing it with Pip and Damo from Elements Interiors and Construction at Macquarie Chambers. Recognizing the distractions at home, I understand that a dedicated workspace enhances productivity and fosters connections within the home industry, reducing the need for daily trips from Wongarbon to Dubbo.
Embracing breathwork and kinesiology has become a significant part of my journey. Exploring alternative paths has allowed me to make unexpected connections and delve into self-discovery, unraveling the layers of my triggers and understanding myself more deeply.
It's easy to forget to give ourselves credit for the positive experiences amid life's challenges. I've adopted a simple yet powerful technique called "seeing the glimmer." Each day, I reflect on a small, uplifting moment—a fleeting encounter with a blue wren while sipping coffee on the verandah, a simple joy that brings a smile to my face.
A recent conversation with a friend highlighted the unique skills required in my profession. Not everyone can enter people's homes with the right language and skills to guide them through struggles. I've come to appreciate and respect each client's individual journey, tailoring my approach to their specific needs and desires.
The emotional aspect of my work is paramount, as we navigate the decision-making process of reassessing what we hold onto and what we let go of in our lives. Decision fatigue is real, and it's okay to feel physically and emotionally drained. There's no right or wrong way to handle these moments—acknowledge, feel, and move forward.
Life's storms may be daunting, but within them lies the opportunity for self-discovery and renewed focus. Today, I embrace the journey, recognizing the glimmers that light my path amidst the chaos.
